Thanks for the replies.

I'm in the process of doing a chargeback with my CC.

I have emailed them twice on the subject. No replies. I dont feel like I need to call them to get this rectified (its also costs $ to call to UK =) )

If this all falls through, any legit places to buy the 09 sim card?

I think you can order directly from 09 - not sure if this will redirect you to Orate or not, http://www.09.is

When I ordered from 09 direct (see start of this thread) the order got passed on to Orate some weeks later. Don't know if it's still the same, but given the lack of changes on the 09 site I would expect so.

With their near complete lack of support, lack of SMS, and dropping of countries (e.g. Mexico) without notice (not even updating the country list afterwards), I wouldn't recommend 09 to anybody.

....except for the fact that for me, and I just used them the last couple of days in France and the UK, I pay 10¢/minute to call the USA using enlinea so I put up with all the other problems (of course I've had the card for a while)...

Incidentally, just recently unless I am mistaken, when I called for a balance it was given to me in Euro and I believe, but don't hold me to this, it was given at one time in USD.

I was using the card fine that way last year from Mexico (it's the only country I brought the card for), and it was a great deal. They've now dropped Mexico without warning, so for me it's useless.

That's a problem with a lot of these cards, even if they manage to stay in business their changes might make the card unusable (another example would be the large number of surcharged countries added to gt-sim).

I know...nothing is guaranteed! Yackie doubled the cost of incoming calls from $0.24 to $0.49 in almost every country before their sim was even fully functional. Outgoing call sosts also increased in most of the countries too. There are so many of them now, so there is really no telling which one will stay in business.I know one thing...not all of them will survive.

Default Surcharges - 19-05-2007, 18:22

There is a lot of mention of surcharges and their effect on price - this is something that the local carrier (eg in Mexico) does to discourage roaming cards in one of two situations 1) They get minimal revenue 2) they have the called party paid model. They generally overcompensate (and really take advantage at times) but the surcharges will be the same for every foreign SIM that comes in. What maks it worse is they have the ability to change these without notice, always charge by the minute and add all sorts of local taxes. Therefore, if one card supplier imposes a surcharge then be very suspicious of any that do not becasue they are impossible to avoid.

EU pricing still remains a 'smoke and mirrors' exercise that I do not believe will have an overall positive impact on pricing, it will just change the profile of charges and packages.

The 09 card works fine with Telefonica and callbacks with CBW work as well. Sound quality is very good.

Cant complain till now..

Make use of T-M's UMA/wifi free calling from any place in the world with access to wifi. I use an LG G6, wife an S7)
A/o Oct 20, 2013 no need for intl prepaid as T-Mobile U.S. includes voice roaming at 20¢/min (in and out)., unlimited text (in and out), and unlimited data in 140+ countries.

My Plan -[6 lines] U.S. T-Mobile unlimited minutes (incoming and outgoing), unlimited text, fast data on each line. that $145/mo. total! . (In U.S. no surcharge for calling a cell.) If a line exceeds 2G of data in a month, pay $10 more for that line. [That only happens a couple times/year.
