I am relieved that you mention this. A while ago (last year) I had similar problems of people in India just not getting through to a UM SIM I had bought for my Dad. I had not really investigated it much at the time, but it does appear there is a particular block in place (and it is not to all +423 numbers).

Navin, unfortunately I do not have a Geosim for you to make a trial call to. I am sure someone will PM you with one though. Good luck!

I'll let someone more experienced answer your other Q's, but I can say GeoSIM has a 30/6 billing cycle. Also from UK (BT) landlines, one can call the IOM numbering range that GeoSIM is on for 2p/min on weekends and 6p/min at other times by subscribing to http://www.18185.co.uk.

I believe you get very competitive rates from German landlines too. From a German (D Telekom) landline, you can try and dial any of 010058, 01095, 010090, 01097, or 01052 followed by the full international number 00447924.... All of these should cost less than 10c/min. (From http://www.billigertelefonieren.de)
