WTB: UK SIM for short term data..ship to USA

Anyone have a three or other card to sell in USA? I'm looking for a trip in June, would love to get just a UK sim for 500GB-1GB data for a couple weeks.

I think the best option for your would be a Toggle Mobile SIM - toggle mobile

That way you would get a SIM card with the ability to sign up for 500MB of data for £5.00 (via text message) and be able to call the US for 3 pence per minute?

What size SIM do you need? I have a nano SIM I can send you for free - you'll need to register and load it with £10.00 of credit. It's suitable for an iPhone 5 or some of the latest Android handsets.

I also have a standard SIM pack (well, micro-SIM if you're being a purist) with £2.50 credit on it - I bought it for £5.00.

thanks for the response and offer!. toggle DOES seem to be a good option, I had already contacted them and they offered to ship me a SIM for free, and then I can just top it off online..

Seems to be a pretty good deal, 7.5q for 1GB data for a month, and is it REALLY 3p to call back to the states?

I needed a regular old SIM for a 3gs phone I am going to use, so neither of these would work for the phone I'm planning to use, but thanks for the very nice offer!

How did you get a Toggle nano-SIM? When I ordered one from Toggle, they sent me a hand-cut SIM card that was 0.76mm thick, i.e. 13% thicker than a nano-SIM.

You're welcome - yes, the calls to the US do cost just 3p a minute - although, calls withing the UK are 15p a minute ... they must be steering people towards the LycaMobile service national UK calls.,,,

Yes, the nano-SIMs are cut by the dealer I know, so they are outside of normal tolerances.

That having been said, they fit into my HTC One Plus X and an iPhone 5 with no problems.

And they are free

According to this page, your HTC takes a micro-SIM, not a nano-SIM. Micro-SIMs are 0.76mm so no problem.

My HTC One X Plus takes a nano-SIM - it was a pre-release unit sent to journalists on loan.

I liked it, so I bought it at a discount. I realised when a colleague got a handset that there were differences.

I used to write for Mobile News, a fortnightly cellular trade weekly, here in the UK.

FYI there are two versions of the Samsung Galaxy SIII in circulation - one takes a mini-SIM, whilst the other takes a micro SIM

I also have a Star W007 dual SIM Android handset, but that's another story.

I had them send me a SIM from the UK to the USA for free, but can't for the life of me get it to authenticate while in the USA, I wanted to add data, but I have one of those 300 numbers for now, don't even have the ACTUAL number yet. Any thoughts on whether or not this should DOABLE while in the USA, or does one have to authenticate it only in the UK first?

I suspect you won't get the SIM to authenticate in the US without a credit to the account, as it would be roaming using `conventional' inter-carrier signalling.

When you say a `300 number' - what do you mean? Not familiar with this term (fx: sorry).

No doubt Inquisitor will be along in a moment to give us the correct info...
