AT&T Prepaid Data Roaming Worth Considering

AT&T has prepaid international data roaming, and the pricing is not all that bad.

Each plan is good for 30 days and is 120 MB for $30, 300 MB for $30, and 800 MB for $120. This price includes data (not voice) in over 130 countries.

Not bad. What is the best way to keep an ATT prepaid SIM alive while it is parked in your dresser? I'm wondering whether a tablet SIM may be the solution.

I don't know, might be cheaper to just buy a new SIM. I used to see very cheap AT&T SIMs on ebay, but no more. Except it seems they can be bought in bulk for about $2.50 each on ebay.

Of course I have a typo in my original post. 300 MB is not $30, it is $60.

I've wondered if there was an ATT prepaid or MVNO that was cheap to keep. Not so much for data but rather as a "plan B" for areas where T-Mobile does not have service.

Of all the luck, Airvoice's web site seems to be down right now. I believe they have a PAYGO with 90 day expiration for $10. And there is a monthly service fee. Hopefully when the web site returns, I can update this message.

I don't think the MVNOs have international data buckets.

Actually you can get free AT&T data roaming worldwide on a Kindle 3G in the experimental web browser when not in range of wi-fi. Have done this to get gmail, check-in for flights, check weather maps/forecasts (important when I was in Bermuda when a hurricane came close).
Plus I can get local or home newspapers, books, etc. over the same data connection (handy because they take up space and weight in luggage if not in electronic format).
Granted this is an e-ink monochrome display, you can't open multiple windows, etc.

Well, maybe less than $50/year. (Some of us are cheaper than others.)
