Question on TIM SIM prepaid expiry

Anybody know how long the prepaid balance on the SIM is good for and how long if I don't refill before the account/SIM deactivates. I have a $5 balance remaining from when I got back from Rome in mid November.

Looking to see if its worth keeping the SIM active for my next trip or just getting a new SIM the next time around.

Couldn't find my answer on the 119.it portal or through past searches on the forum.

12 months (+1 month of grace period, only incoming calls/SMS in Italy available) after each refill (or first activation).
