![]() Hi People and sorry...I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times...but I just cant find an exact answer to my question.
So this is the situation: In Italy for three weeks...need a SIM for probably a dozen short calls...and as an emergency.....more important is a data add -on for day to day navigation [on foot] and the ability to tether to my WiFi iPad......but dont plan any massive data downloads. I can buy from WIN Termini [have generated a Codice Fiscale] The TIMxSmartphone Maxi looks fine for data. I'd like to buy a SIM plus the Maxi for data and to save mucking around, buy enough credit to last the senario above without having to re-charge. So, two questions.....What SIM plan should I look at? and what should I spend....10euro for a SIM and add another 20-30euro credit to cover all costs? Many Thanks ![]() |

![]() Consider 10€ for the card, including 5€ of credit you can use for your calls. Then you need at least 15€ for 3 weeks of data option. So I'd recharge 20€ and that would be ok. With TIM you can refill also just 5€, so it's not a big problem if you have to add some credit later, there's full of Tabacchi shops everywhere in Italy.

![]() I am thinking of getting a prepaid Wind card with the All Inclusive Digital option for 5€. Would I still need extra credit loaded or can I just use the 5€ that is included when you buy the sim card?

![]() I always take the approach of not being afraid to add an extra 10 euros or so to my expected usage, on the basis that I can always sell the card on eBay when I get back.
Obviously there are issues with the SIM card being linked to you, but since the recipient probably wants a card they can burn up and then throw away, this shouldn't be a problem. +Steve ![]() PO Box 1014, Sheffield S10 5YG, UK Home mobie: Telefonica O2 Other UK mobiles: 3, Vodafone, Virgin Foreign SIMs: Toggle (multi); Germany (Fonic); Poland (Orange PL); Skype: stevewgold |
