![]() In december I bought an A1 B.free prepaid SIM card for Euro 10, loaded with 1000 min to all Austrian networks and unlimited minutes to A1. Coverage was excellent, including in the U-bahn tunnels. I did not need a data SIM, but a prepaid data SIM exists. try Handy - Festnetz - Internet - Mobiles Internet - TV | A1.net and use Google or Microsoft translation services, if you need.

Don't think about roaming with an austrian SIM. Go for yesss! (sold in HOFER (Aldi)) supermarkets everywhere. The SIM (Prepaid = Wertkarte) comes with at least 1GB and is ready to use without registration. It is possible and easy to register on yesss! to easyly administrate and check all details. Top up is easy with vouchers (20€ for 2 GB/1 year validity) also from HOFER shops and many others. You can also buy a A1 starter set for 20€ which comes with 1,5GB. Recharge is also 20€/1 year but only for 1,5GB. I have been using both cards all over Austria and the Yesss is really not bad. |

![]() That may be true in urban areas yes, however, in my experience in the mountains, e.g. Zillertal and Ötztal, A1 has better coverage than Yesss.
SIMs: CA Fido/Fongo • AT A1-B.free • Google Fi R.I.P.: UM • UM+ |

![]() I have to agree with Bylo. A1 has by far better coverage than Orange/yesss!
There's also a lower cost voice and data solution for A1: bob. Voice calls are EUR0.068/minute while 1GB of data is EUR4. ![]() If you want (Highspeed-)coverage whereever possible, you should use 4 SIMs.
For that purpose I carry A1, Yesss, 3 and T-Mobile ![]() |

Regarding bob you must mention, that it uses A1 network but CANNOT BE RECHARGED. It must be registered after you have used the 1st GB which comes with the SIM. You need an austrian bank account to settle the charges from! |

As a matter of fact you can. The prepaid bob SIM (bob wertkarte) has a new 1GB/month option for EUR4. ![]() Thanks a lot, I've learned something. Further details I have to check. Recently I used a bob data SIM which came with a modem somebody needed for fast uploading. This SIM did not offer this way of prepaid top up. Maybe it's a different plan with a special SIM.

![]() It's the voice SIM, not the data one.

![]() I went to 3 shops, but nobody knows it!
Their website is by far not clear, but it is an option for the Prepaid Wertkarte 6,8ct or the Vielwert - Wertkarte. The option can be renewed also before the end of the 30 days period of validity, if the 1GB has been used. Then another 30 days period begins. http://www.bob.at/final/de/Media/PDF...tkarte_1GB.pdf According to the decription upload speed is only up to 384kBit/s which is much slower than my experience with bob "contract" data SIMs. These reached about 2 MBit/s upload speed. |
