Thanks for the info. I doubt that most carriers will block Skype since many smartphones are now using the Skype mobile application.

I'm also considering simply tethering my unlocked Blackberry 9530 (Storm).

The wide spread of Skype on handsets is exactly the reason why operators block Skype, as it cannibalizes voice revenues.
