Tre Italia probably have another Skype client for their clients. So just try it!
According to the "Guida e installazione" tab of the linked page, that software supports Skype voice calls, which are actually established through a callback over a circuit-switched voice channel (like regular voice calls), so calls should be crystal clear and will not be dependant on quality or bandwidth of the datalink. postpaid: O2 on Business XL; prepaid: DE: Aldi Talk, Lidl; UK: 3; BG: MTel, vivacom; RU: MTS; RS: MTS; UAE: du Tourist SIM; INT'L: toggle mobile VoIP: sipgate.de (German DID); sipgate.co.uk (British DID); ukddi.com (British DID); sipcall.ch (Swiss DID); megafon.bg (Bulgarian DID); InterVoip.com |

Three's Skype client is a proprietary version of the iSkoot software. It doesn't doesn't support true VOIP and has a broad list of supported handsets because of it.

I went to the local 3 store and tried to get a sim card for my e61. the representative told me I could not get one, and continued to argue with me for 5 minutes over various different things. I went down the road and got a TIM card instead, and will be using iskoot or fring for my skyping.
