![]() Hi,
on my netbook I have installed a swisscom mobile partner version. Recently I used a yesss! Huawei E160 stick. This stick started the usual self installation process. I don't need this second mobile partner version to be installed. How can I prevent the stick's attempt to install HIS software? |

![]() There are several ways of preventing that automatic installation.
First you could disable autoplay for the NAND-flashdrive of your USB-dongle, so Windows won't automatically start setup upon detection:
Alternatively you can disable the NAND-flashdrive so it won't appear on any computer by executing this AT-command on Huawei application interface COM port: Quote:
The last and in my eyes the best method is debranding your E160 by running this firmware update (originally intended for debranding a Vodafone-branded version of the E160 called K3565, but should work also for your's), which will upate your modem's firmware and replace the operator-customized version of Mobile Partner on your flashdrive by a generic version from Huawei. After running that update, you need to install that new generic version of Mobile Partner once from the flashdrive and you will never face autoplay execution of the setup again unless you remove that certain version of Mobile Partner from your system. Automatic installation will only be run if Mobile Partner is not present on your system or if there's another version installed. postpaid: O2 on Business XL; prepaid: DE: Aldi Talk, Lidl; UK: 3; BG: MTel, vivacom; RU: MTS; RS: MTS; UAE: du Tourist SIM; INT'L: toggle mobile VoIP: sipgate.de (German DID); sipgate.co.uk (British DID); ukddi.com (British DID); sipcall.ch (Swiss DID); megafon.bg (Bulgarian DID); InterVoip.com |

![]() Thanks again,
...I'm learning from you... As I'm still a beginner in "computer science", the 901 GO is even my first computer at all, I kindly ask you to explain to me how the procedure of flashing the device is done. I' rather like to do this with my E220 as the E160 was a friend's one. ![]() |

![]() You're welcome. So you own a computer for less than a year, but you use specific technical terms like "flashing"?
Anyway the flashing is very easy. Just download the mentioned update and execute it while the E160 is plugged in. The rest will happen more or less automatically. The only requirement of the update is drivers being installed. But if there's a previous version of Mobile Partner installed on your computer, these required drivers are already present. Regarding the E220 you should be able to run this official update from Huawei. Again it is important drivers to be already installed for the E220, as otherwise the update won't be able to detect it. Please notice, that in both cases the update will only replace the setup files in the flash memory of the modem. It won't affect the already installed software on your computer. So in order to make use of the updated setup files you'll need to reinstall Mobile Partner from the flash memory of your modem. Only then the existing version of Mobile Partner will be updated. postpaid: O2 on Business XL; prepaid: DE: Aldi Talk, Lidl; UK: 3; BG: MTel, vivacom; RU: MTS; RS: MTS; UAE: du Tourist SIM; INT'L: toggle mobile VoIP: sipgate.de (German DID); sipgate.co.uk (British DID); ukddi.com (British DID); sipcall.ch (Swiss DID); megafon.bg (Bulgarian DID); InterVoip.com |

![]() No, you won't be able to update while Mobile Partner is running.
