Possibly of interest to some here - Truphone now have "unlimited" plans, including one that can call mobiles in many countries for $40/mo.

I don't use a phone enough for it to be useful to me, but for a really heavy user it could save money or at least give peace of mind you're not running up a giant bill.

Strange the way they don't seem to include New Zealand (not even landlines) in these plans, while including much more expensive countries (such as Mexico mobile).

That is quite interesting! I am not aware of anyone else who offers this many mobile destinations at flatrate. Just spotted though it is limited to a Fair Use limit of 3000 minutes per month and 60 minutes per call. Still fairly generous though. I wonder if the UK mobiles include the full +44 7 range!

I too call NZ quite a bit, but use one of the many Betamax clones that offer landlines for "free" for the 90 days after making a small topup! I am sure you are aware of them too.
