Memory stick pro duo for Sony only?

Is the Sony brand Memory Stick Pro Duo (4GB) memory card useful in Sony cameras ONLY, or can I insert it in other cameras as well?

No,
Memory stick pro duo is Sony's own invention. And there are different kinds as well, the newer ones can't be used in older camera's.
almost all other brand use something else. most compact camera's use SD, some SLR's use CF (even some sony's) and Fuij also has it own card: XD

Yup Memory stick is only for Sony cameras, laptops or what not like what Ties said, same thing with XD card which can only be use with Olympus and Fuji brand cameras or products initially but now I think some kodak cameras also accepts xd cards.
