or switch the voicemail off completely

1760 off; 1750 on; 1710 does Call Alert instead

(I don't know if these work abroad, but I'd do it earlier)

Thanks Andy. I never actually knew it was that easy. I have now activated call alert and get a text message sent to me! It's much better anyhow. I know so many people who as a policy never leave messages anyhow! So I end up listening to lots of clicks on my answering service and paying to do so!!
