![]() I don't know about coming close. But, Virgin UK charges the same for GPRS roaming or not. And, that's approximately 5 pounds/meg. That's what I have always used for my data roaming.

![]() Well, if you get Blackberry service, through T-Mobile USA, with international e-mail data roaming, and Blackberry data, for a total of $48 per month, or $38 if you have a voice plan with the account, you can use the SIM in any GSM GPRS/EDGE modem, and roam the world, with GPRS or EDGE, for free .... just make sure your acocunt is , in addiiton to Blackberry data, is provisioned with wap.voicestream.com.
That all being said, even EDGE on a laptop is pretty lethargic. I have a SIM from T-Mobile exclusively for my Sony laptop. which is its built in GSM EDGE modem. Have never paid a penny additional for a pretty fair amount of data I've used in Asia, Europe, Middle East, etc ... |

![]() GT-SIM is about the same I think for GPRS data. Has anyone done a list of cards that support GPRS roaming?

![]() I'll probably get a Wind SIM. For Italy it's definitely the cheapest, and I'm planning to go there next year. Even for 3 euro/mth, 2MB isn't bad @ 0.015 Euro cents/kb.
Form Australia, everything is AU$0.01c/kb min for roaming... Vodafone http://www.vodafone.com.au/rep/coverage/go...g_os&ss=gprs_os $0.01c/KB = $10/MB Telstra http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/products/...ingoutbound.cfm $0.015c/KB = $15/MB + 50c flagfall Three http://www.three.com.au/personal_dat...countries.html $15+/MB - $7/MB on 3 partners. Optus http://www.optus.com.au/portal/site/smallb...nextfmt=default $0.02c/KB = $20/MB |

![]() For Virgin and I guess Vodafone, do you need to be on contract or pass a credit check? I've got a Vodafone NL sim laying around that I'd love to do something with.

![]() Andy,
For reasons that escape me, I'm leaving Dubai for a week on your little Island at the end of the month. It must be: (a) the weather; (b) the prices; (c) Central London is so lively around Christmas; (d) the cooking; and, (e) I don't run into enough Brits in Dubai ![]() I have an OVP Virgin SIM with about 60 quid in stored credit from a credit they gave me earlier in the year. Can I activate this option without giving up my ringfenced protection? |

![]() No. At least for virgin you don't. I have bought 3 Virgin UK payg sims on ebay UK. They all roamed out of the box and were GPRS enabled. I have never contacted Virgin cust. service for anything. I just had the GPRS settings sent to my phone from the settings page on their website. I only use this sim for data while roaming. It has even worked in Nigeria and several caribbean countries that are not listed on the payg roaming countries.
