The US truth in lending act deals with the legalities of charge backs in terms of it having to be done within 60 days of the statement where the purchase was first listed but the truth in lending act also restricts you the customer to being guaranteed some consideration is the best way I can describe it if the purchase was made in your state or witnin 100 miles of your purchase (of course this was done long before it was common to buy things on the internet)...most cc companies will assist you for a reasonable amount of time if you dispute a charge...I am not naive in terms of dealing with people..I can understand that with a large number of chargebacks for non receipt their credit card account could have been suspended...most merchant agreements do give the credit card bank that right if there are an excessive number of charge backs (as opposed to refunds issued)...I am willing to see how this owrks out at this stage... |
