got some info on the lobster 700 tv phone that virgin mobile will be bringing out in the next few weeks

Hi xxxxxxx,

Thanks for your email to Virgin Mobile about the new Lobster 700.

It's great to hear you want to get your hands on one of our great Mobile TV phones.

Yes, the new Virgin Mobile ? Mobile TV service powered by BT Movio, has launched. Virgin Mobile will be the first mobile operator in the UK to enable customers to watch live digital TV on their mobile phone! The new service will give you access to 4 live digital TV channels, 24 hours a day and over 30 DAB radio stations.

How much will it cost?

The Lobster 700 is ?199, you'll get a Joining pack and ?35 of airtime free.

Pay As You Go customers like you will be charged ?5 per month TV subscription charge.

The first 3 months of TV subscription is completely free for all customers!

After this period, the access page will give you a choice of viewing BBC1 free of charge, or viewing the other 3 payable services at the ?5 per month. The reason why BBC1 is free after 3 months is because it is covered by a standard TV licence, which is assumed everybody has.

These channels will be:

BBC1
ITV1
Channel 4 Short Cuts ? Channel 4's new made for mobile channel
E4

How does this work?
The TV signal is broadcast using a DAB signal, so all you need to view this new service is one of the new Lobster 700 phones.

Specifically to support this new service. You also need to be in an area of DAB coverage. To check for coverage in your area follow this link:
http://www.digitalone.co.uk/coverage...h/postcode.asp

Check out our website over the next few weeks.

If there's anything else we can help you with, just reply to this email. You can also give us a call on 789 from your Virgin Mobile phone ? it's just 10p, no matter how long you talk for. Or, you can call us on 0845 6000 789 from a fixed line phone. These calls are charged at local rate.

How did we do? If you'd like to give us some feedback, just click on the link below and fill in our online questionnaire. We promise to use your answers to make our service the best it can be.

Click here to complete the survey.

Kind regards,

Very nice Virgin Mobile staff...

wow, but a normal telly is cheaper to buy in a year - you can even get one of those small lcd ones given away free with a mobile contract (well you could until they upgraded to free iPods and laptop PCs) - and there is more coverage area

Just noticed this April NewsBlog entry:

Quote:
It was announced some time ago, but now it's not only official, but also already active with its offers: Virgin Mobile started a new MVNO in France, while it's probably leaving the UK market.
Was this an April Fool's joke? Or did "leaving the UK market" simply refer to the NTL takeover? Or did some clueless market analyst (an oxymoron, usually) predict this?

Current DE: Vodafone, Netzklub; PL: Klucz, Virgin; UK: Giffgaff, Vodafone; US: T-Mobile; CA: 7-Eleven; IT: Vodafone; UA: Kyivstar; FR: Bouygues; GR: Vodafone
Former DE: Vodafone, T-Mobile, O2, Blauworld, 01051mobile, Solomo, Lycamobile, Simyo, Congstar, Fonic, Edeka Mobile, Lidl Mobile; PL: Heyah, Era, Virgin, Sami Swoi, Orange, POP, iPlus, Carrefour Mova, Telepin Mobi, Play, Lycamobile, T-Mobile; UK: Vodafone, T-Mobile, Virgin; US: T-Mobile, AT&T, Lycamobile; CZ: Vodafone, Oskar; ES: Lebara; GR: Vodafone, Wind; UA: Vodafone; IL: Orange; TR: Turkcell
