Country: | 29-07-2006, 18:23 So, I recently use my riiing card to send an SMS to my home cell phone, this just to make my account current which must be done every nine months. But, what happend the NEXT day? I started getting SPAM SMS from places in hungary, .de domains, etc. I have had this cell phone in the US, for SIX YEARS NOW, and have never received a SPAM SMS. But not ONE DAY after sending an SMS from my riiing phone, I start getting spam. anyone have a similar experience? What do you recommend to make it stop? I am going to send a cessation letter to the UM headquarters, but I fear that once the number is out there, I cannot get it stopped. |

But I tried sending to UM using both my tmobile payg and sprint accounts. I was not sucessful. Not realy surprised that sprint did not work. But, I was surprised tmobile did not work, because it has always worked to any country/network I tried. Sim cards: AT&T (Contract), 3 UK, Piranha Mobile |

Country: | 02-08-2006, 13:10 Hey folks, does sending an SMS message extend the 9 month life-period of the UML-card? Tivoboy, did it work for you? Was the lifetime of your UML-card extended? I ask, as earlier, as Riiing-cards were still sold by GlobalSIM here in Europe, GlobalSIM said, sending SMS will not extend the lifetime. Would be usefull to know, if sending SMS does extend the lifetime. About Spam: I never had problems and it is very strange, what you experienced. Although it is difficult to believe: could it be coincidence? By the way, there are several satellite TV-stations, here in Europe and also in Northern Africa (123sat for example, a moroccan music TV), which uses UML-numbers to text them and also to meet "nice girls" and things like this... Perhaps your number is similar to one of these and you got the Spam "by mistake"? Regards, Klaus |

Country: | 02-08-2006, 14:45 In the site of the UM its says: Q: When does the United Mobile SIM card and the credit expire? A: SIM card and credit will become invalid if the credit has not changed for nine months. http://www.united-mobile.com/cms/website/i...=2&idcatside=49 |
