I talked to Um customer serive so month ago and asked them about this period where they would switch off a number.

The CS lady told me that this had to be done by hand and was not an automatic system. This would mean that when someone had time they had to go through a list and switch the numbers off. It could therefore happen that even after 2 years the number would still be active.
