Interesting UM Satory
 

A couple of years ago, I loaned a friend my mobile phone and bought him a UM sim card....well for one reason or another, he misplaced the phone and wasn't able to return it until last night (it happens, no big deal)...

In any event, I was sure the UM sim card (it was actually a riiing card) was history....powered the phone up, charged the battery and voila it registered on T Mobile...didn't mean anything right...so I called my cell phone number and guess what...the phone rang...the card, which had last been used in August 2005 was still active and the credit was there....of course I immediately registered the card on my account on the web site and guess what...free upgrades were still available.....

Apropos of nothing but interesting....this 9 month thing seems to be very very flexible.

I talked to Um customer serive so month ago and asked them about this period where they would switch off a number.

The CS lady told me that this had to be done by hand and was not an automatic system. This would mean that when someone had time they had to go through a list and switch the numbers off. It could therefore happen that even after 2 years the number would still be active.
