Default Roaming with Fonic? - 28-04-2013, 15:55

This really is a great thread. Thanks to all !!

I can't find any information about using a Fonic SIM outside of Germany. I'll be in Germany and Switzerland this summer. Can I make phone calls from within Switzerland with my Fonic SIM ?? Any idea what the rates would be? If Fonic posts this information somewhere could you post the link? I realize it would probably be in German - that is fine.

THANKS

Default Fonic day data rate down to 1.95 euros for 500MB - 26-01-2014, 15:05

Just prepping for a visit to Germany next month and was pleasantly surprised to find that the charge has dropped from 2.50 euros a day to 1.99 euros for 500MB of data.

https://www.fonic.de/fonic-surf-card...er-surf-sticks has all the details.

Probably you won't be interested in domestic airtime but Fonic subscribers can now subscribe to all those bundles (and pay with their prepaid credit) that required direct debit payment through a German bank account before:
https://www.fonic.de/fonic-tarife-ha...biles-internet

In contrast to Fonic, Lidl Mobile (which legally is also run by Fonic) still requires all those "smart" options (bundles of airtime and data volume, NOT mere data bundles) to be paid by direct debit and so are not an option for visitors.

Interesting - thanks Inquisitor...

The 9c calling deal across Europe looks good, though shall be dual-SIM-ing on a Toggle SIM for voice calls whilst in Germany

Of course, while packing to leave for Germany today my old Fonic SIM card surfaced! I haven't used it for over a year. If I top it up, is it possible to bring it back to life?

The cards get deactivated if there is no billable action within 12 months. According to hotline it can not be reactivated.

However your balance is still kept on your account - If you get a new SIM you can ask hotline to transfer your old balance to the new card witout a problem.

Hi all,

I've been in Berlin for a few years and now I'm moving on to Denmark.

I have the 9.99 a month (flat-rate-surf deal) with Fonic. I have given them a months notice but is there anything else I need to do?
Do I need to unlock my iphone?
And if I come back to Berlin to visit friends will I be able to re-use the sim just for calls/sms?

Sorry for all the questions, bit of a technophobe who can't understand Fonic's customer service.
