If you have any ekit SIMs you might want to go online and check if anything is happening to them.
I got this message when checking my ekit SIMs this evening:

I believe they lost a phone number provider. The only two current SIM I have which received this warning are really old
US number only SIMs I have had for a long, long time. I kept them because of local to me area codes they had.
You will be getting new phone numbers.

This morning, I 'upgraded' one of the two SIMs that I received this warning on.

I had a choice between two different SIMs, either a Passport or an Explorer SIM.
The warning just show that you would be getting the Explorer. So make your self aware of the differences in case one would be better for you. I already have Passport SIM so I went with an Explorer.

More importantly, to me at least, was that after you click upgrade it says that you can keep your US number if you had enrolled with the keep number plan.
Last night when I talked to a CS in Boston he indicated there was no way to keep the number. I called this morning and talked to a woman who said I could keep the number if I was enrolled in the 'Keep Number' plan [button says 'Keep Number']. I have enrolled now though it says it does not charge until the end of the month. I will report back after I upgrade. I will wait about two weeks to upgrade. The number I have upgraded was one I was willing to lose if I had to. The number I need to upgrade in the future I would rather not lose.

I also just got that new message for my Passport SIM. Get a new Passport or Explorer SIM. I quickly reviewed the differences. I don't see a whole lot of differences in them. Explorer has no connection fee. Explorer call out rates from Europe appear a bit cheaper. Explorer has cheaper email fees. Explorer has fewer free incoming call countries.

I really don't travel to Europe as much any more. Have you figured out the best general way to go on getting the new free SIM? I am thinking of going with an explorer SIM now. I still like Ekit because they send an email every 5 months or so reminding me to make a call or send a text message to keep it active.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Since you are in the US, I would suggest the Explorer SIM unless you make long phone calls. You can use the SIM on both AT&T and T-Mobile and who knows whatever networks. So it is a SIM with very good coverage and a fixed rate for US calling.

What I meant was that all the SIMs of which I received the 'important notice'
have now been shut down with the shut down statement.
