Default Skype or Google Mail forward to Int'l Sim - 08-04-2010, 12:17

I'm traveling to Argentina and have a Movistar Sim for use there. I'm taking my Verizon BB and have an Int'l BB account for my time there.

I'd like to give my elderly parents a U.S. number to use as a contact number. VZW charges $4.99/min (!) in Argentina so I don't want to use that. I have a Google Voice account as well as Skype account, both with US numbers. Would I be able to forward calls from either of those to the Movistar Sim? Would one be preferable over the other?

Thanks

I am not sure what phone number you have on your Movistar SIM. But Google Voice will not forward to a foreign phone number for free. You can make international calls via Google Voice for a fee. I am not sure if they will connect via a "forward" to a foreign number.

I have an EKIT Dual number SIM and set my Google Voice number to forward to the U.S. number on my SIM.

You cannot forward Google Voice to an international number at all. So, you can either use your skype for the international forwarding, or like already mentioned get one of those sims, such as Ekit, that give a US number.

Or use another forward service like Onesuite Forwarding. Rates are 19c to mobile phone to Argentina and 2.5c to a landline phone.
