Default Any experience with Free? - 16-11-2012, 12:23

Seeing how Free has totally disrupted to French telecommunications market with its lower prices, to the extent that Vivendi now wants to sell SFR because it is no longer a "cash cow", I'm surprised that there's nothing in this forum about it. Does anyone here have any experience with Free? What are the costs, benefits, data policies, and expiration?

Free currently offers pay-monthly contracts only; there are no prepaid services. When they eventually launch a prepaid service, I'm sure it will be a good deal.

Looking at Free's pay-monthly contracts contracts - they are a very very good deal.

I hope they hurry up with prepaid, then!

A friend of mine will move to Grenoble for his master studies next month and he is highly interested in subscribing to Free's "Forfait Free" tariff for € 19.99/month.

Can anyone tell me what formalities are required to become a customer? I guess he will need a French bank account? Is there anything else to observe?

Does Free also run shops or are they direct selling online only?

Thanks.

Yes, you need a French bank account. And no, they don't run shops, at the moment, though I read a rumour earlier this year where they were supposed to open a big shop in Paris...

Maybe, if he's moving just for some months, Joe could be a better choice (he could use his German credit card - it works also with prepaid debit cards)

Merci beaucoup, tux et willemjns! I've just ordered a Joe SIM. Let's see if they still accept German credit cards, about which I'll report on the relevant thread.
