Default OneSimCard: For former UM customers - 23-01-2010, 22:03

For those of you who are trading in your old United Mobile SIM card for a free one from OneSimCard, make sure you send your UM SIM and the OneSimCard form to THIS address:

PO Box 481
Belmont, MA 02478

You first must register here:
United Mobile SIM card | Free SIM Replacement Program

and then you print the page it generates for you. The problem is the instructions give you their old address. I found out when my envelope was returned to me, undelivered.

Default Good offer. - 24-01-2010, 05:08

If you live In the US, this is a really good offer. Estonian mobile number but you can get a US number also with it. Also the credit lasts 10 months, but the SIM card/phone number lasts 'forever.'

Why are calls originating in the US so expensive? ($2.50/min to receive a call, $2.89/min to make a call to the US or Canada)

Conversely why are calls originating in Canada so (relatively) cheap? ($0.20/min to receive a call, $0.85/min to make a call to the US or Canada)

Phones: OnePlus 5 • Nexus 5
SIMs: CA Fido/Fongo • AT A1-B.free • Google Fi

Each international carrier negotiates their own pricing, or takes a loss to make their cards look better in certain countries. I've found that sometimes the international carrier will change (i.e. lie, deceive, not tell the truth) about their rates on their website...and when you look through your charge history (if they support that), you'll find different charges (usually higher).

Basically you'll need to find a International Carrier that has reasonable pricing in the country you are traveling to. Since I travel to Central America, the Caribbean, and South America, I've found that the pricing using this International carrier (OneSinCard) is quite expensive compared to Celtrek for those destinations. Though I've never actually used them, I'll try them out on my next trip, I'll see if they are one of the carriers that lies or is telling the truth about their prices.

Glad companies are still accepting defunct UM sims in trade, but the OneSimCard rate structure for countries I typically need it for aren't as competitive as the ekit SIMple calling sim(one of several Isle of Man sim chips out there), country specific sims (Bermuda is notorious for high roaming rates so I use Digicel there) or in some cases a satphone. Think it boils down to what works best for different customers. What works well for one person may not work well for another...
