Don't forget to change the SIM for a SIM from another provider.

Once you have done this you need to place a sim card that comes from another provider into your E160 USB stick. Now depending on your software you either will be asked for an unlock code (which is the above mentioned Unlock) just after starting your ordinary software that you use for estabilishing a connection to the internet (obviously you need to plug in your USB stick first) or should use an alternative method described on the mentioned website as How to enter code.
I hope this helps.
What is the security code for E160? Is that the 4digit PIN?

So there is no lock in the device itself, but the dashboard software is restricted. Now what you need to do is simply running a dashboard update which will replace that Vodafone software by Mobile Partner. You'll find download links at Huawei E160 (E160G, E160E, E160X, K3565) - 3G modem wiki (try the official update from 27-May-2009 and if that fails try the inofficial version - the last time I tried it only the inofficial version worked).
I have a Huawei E160 bought in Germany from Tchibo. Is that unlocked? Or do I have to use the unlock code? I want to use the stick in France and Italy. (Are there companies in France and Italy that use the E160 and might be good choices?)

Also have people checked out this unlock site to make sure it isn't some kind of scam trying to get into our computers?

All modems from Tchibo are locked and you have to unlock it in order to use it with another SIM card. The E160 is compatible with all Italian and French networks, so you can use any operator in these countries.
I wouldn't post links to scam pages and since you don't have to download anything from that page for unlocking, there's little danger.

Why don't you use Mobile Partner to enter the unlock code? Just insert a SIM from another operator in your stick and Mobile Partner will ask for the regular SIM PIN code and right after that for the unlock code.
