Got the same ticket response. I fly to Bermuda on June 24th and Piranha is promising replacement sim cards to be mailed by June 30th.
So I ordered the Koko Mobile sim card from Switzerland. The FAQ on their website says they mail out orders the same day received weekdays before 10 AM CET. Sim Cards: T-Mobile (Mint), AT&T (Mifi device or Kindle), Koko Satphone: InMarSat Broadband US Wireless Data: AT&T postpaid, Sprint (Karma Mobility prepaid) Broadband International Data: SkyRoam VOIP: Skype |

And my Koko Mobile sim card order has been marked as completed/shipped.
Once I get the Koko card and try it out, maybe I'll start a thread on it. Sim Cards: T-Mobile (Mint), AT&T (Mifi device or Kindle), Koko Satphone: InMarSat Broadband US Wireless Data: AT&T postpaid, Sprint (Karma Mobility prepaid) Broadband International Data: SkyRoam VOIP: Skype |

I leave for Bermuda tomorrow and will use KoKo Mobile as my primary prepaid roaming sim card for voice and text since the replacement Piranha cards have not shown. Data will be via a SkyRoam mifi device. Also have a lot of prepaid airtime on an Inmarsat isatphone, so will try to use some of that up. Plus there's always VOIP...

So Koko appears to be a Naka SIM (bottom of their website lists NAKA AG). There's a whole section on them at the prepaid data wiki, though it's not listed there. The most interesting within that family though is DrimSim, which has €0.01/MB data rates for Europe, the US, Australia and NZ, and lower rates than Koko for other countries I looked at. It's €10 for the SIM card delivered (no credit) vs. 20 Swiss Francs (€17.34 today) for the Koko SIM (no credit). Some of the screenshots of the DrimSim app show a top-up option of €10 which is nice.
One thing that's not clear is the phone numbers included with each. I think it's a UK Isle of Mann # for the DrimSim. GadgetKen, maybe you can answer what number came with your Koko SIM? |

I have started a new thread for Koko mobile with a quick review / overview of the services. Maybe we should head over to that thread to discuss Koko and leave space here for Piranha Mobile...

See my initial post in the new Koko Mobile thread, most of the NAKA brands offer several other mobile numbers from different countries. The German number issued to me comes in the format +49 1577 xxxx. Though no communication from Piranha, I noticed they have updated their call calculator with the new rates, and there someone info about the new SIM card on the website and faq.On logging in, one can choose between US/Canada/UK(what type???) number during SIM activation. Also there is now a monthly charge of $0.50 for a US/Canada number. I suspect it may be one of those expensive UK numbers.
Sim cards: AT&T (Contract), 3 UK, Piranha Mobile |

@Bossman Thanks for pointing out the Piranha website updates. They emphasize direct dial instead of dial-out on the new cards. But their new rate structure varies enormously by country. Bermuda outgoing calls are now US$1.06/minute (they say on "Digital" but it's likely "Digicel"). Canada is 40 cents a minute for Bell and 35 cents for Telus. USA is only ten cents a minute on AT&T (no T-Mo).
As a comparison, I used Koko in Bermuda last month at 49 cents a minute. And my T-Mo/Mint Mobile roams in Canada or Mexico at 6 cents a minute and 25 cents a minute elsewhere they have a roaming agreement. USA talk is a nickel a minute on AT&T/H2O pay as you go prepaid and unlimited on T-Mo/Mint Mobile. Not holding my breath on receiving new sim cards from Piranha after filing replacement sim card requests on the Piranha online account management system weeks ago. Given that not much was left on my Piranha card, or my fathers, it's not much of a loss. And at their new rates in countries I would likely use it, the remaining credit wouldn't last very long. Still, I'm curious what carrier is backing the new sim card and whether Piranha will send out the replacement sim cards they promised to old customers.
