Well now, you are our Canadian tester.
How long did it take to switch to Rogers when you changed the
roaming profile in their online account?

Perhaps and indicate to Piranha that you are in Canada and have the problem.
The more countries providing input the sooner they think it is worth fixing?

I assume you got an american phone number.
Are you or did you get a Canadian phone number?

I contacted them about it and they say they are waiting on new UK numbers, they have informed me they have had issues with SMS Data fill on certain networks, whatever that means? I also see they have introduced there own VoIP dialler, but i cannot test it yet, i have been told its waiting for Apple to approve, if anyone out there has tested the Android version can you let me know if its ok, before i download the IPhone version when ready. The new accounts app works ok.

I just ordered another one. My husband is now using one as his "regular phone" (he only makes calls in semi emergencies anyway) and one for me when I'm travelling, also it will be useful on our Alaska cruise to check the occasional email when we're in ports. Hope they'll stay in business for a long, long time as I have abandoned the Truphone SIM by now....

How well does Piranha compare to Canadian prepaid options? Same rates from Canada to Canada and the United States.
Better expiration, I imagine.
Certainly beats AT&T and T-Mobile PAYGO rates. Callinng to the USA from Canada:: AT&T's rate of 39¢ per minute and T-Mobile's rate of $0.59 / min.

Prepaid rates in Canada are around $0.25/min and $10 per 100MB on most plans. But he is such a terribly light user, that this is overkill for him... Telus is the only provider to offer pay per use data at $2 per MB and local calls are $0.30, LD $0.70.

This means that Piranha is actually cheaper considering the nationwide fee and per MB usage... and yes the no top up requirement (Telus has $100 per year or $10 per month as an absolute minimum) made it an easy choice He can now check the very occasional email or make the odd call which is all he needs!

Does he have a Canadian number with Piranha or just does not need one?
Do you happen to know what Piranha charges for a Canadian number?

No, he chose to just use a US#. I did enquire when I bought the Piranha SIM last year, and a Canadian number would be 1.50 pounds per month with a 5 pounds setup fee.

Default Piranha texting issues - 06-07-2014, 23:10

From another thread:

What is the nature of your issues?
I just did some testing.

While on the T-Mobile network, I could send SMS from a T-Mobile and an AT&T MVNO to the US phone number.
I could not from the T-Mobile MVNO to the UK phone number but could from the AT&T MVNO.

While on the AT&T network, I could not send an SMS from the T-Mobile MVNO to the UK phone number but could from the AT&T MVNO.

When I first tried to send SMS to the US number from both networks it did not work.
The second time I tried I could send SMS from a T-Mobile
and an AT&T MVNO to the US phone number.
Flaky? I had just switched to the AT&T network when I tried the first time.

Do you have any experience that fits these pattersns?

I have not tested in such detail, but my experience has been that I can text out, and it shows the US number, but incoming to the UK number does not work. That's a pain when I'm in UK/Europe, I want it to look and act like a local number.
Not sure I get what it would mean to be on TMob and use another MVNO? sorry, I'm not an expert on the technical side.

The networks in the US are T-Mobile and AT&T.
Piranha is set to one or the other.
When I try to send texts, I am using an MVNO that uses either
T-Mobile's or AT&T's network.
