from what I can see, Geodesa should be the only one, but I got a reply from them saying "It is anticipated that Ghana will have coverage later this year."

Anybody there who can tell more?

thanks,
Axel

Supposedly United Mobile works there. 09 also lists it. Those seem to be the only 2.

Never been there myself and tested it.

Keep in mind that coverage in Ghana, even with three carriers there, will be spotty. If you plan to venture into the countryside it would not be unreasonable to take along a satellite phone, such as Thruaya. OTOH, a prepaid SIM in Ghana is only 40,000 Cedi (3.57 Euro), so you could probably afford one for each carrier.

Yackie lists Ghana too.

On a different but similar not, I used MTN Nigeria when I was in Lagos, Nigeria lastyear. And, coverage was excellent! Had no problems making calls at all and my V551 showed full bars every where I went. GPRS connection was very good too.

Um does not list Ghana in the coverage list at their site.

Are you sure they have coverage; Or is it for incoming only;

I would think Hopmobile should work, as it's based on a SIM from there

Correct. Ghana is a DESTINATION country, not an ORIGIN country. Sorry. THEREFORE, I doubt it has inbound.

Even if it had, it wouldn't be listed. AFAIK among international SIMs, only HopMobile lists inbound-only countries/networks...

UM also didn't list Japan last time I checked, but it works there, even if it is a tad spendy.
