According to a post from Samsung Zwitserland on Facebook you will need a SIM from the region where the phone was sold, but ONLY TO ACTIVATE. After activation the device should also accept other SIM cards: Quote:

It would be interesting to know if a dead prepaid SIM card is enough or if it needs to be live.
