Problems with MÁSmovil -
05-09-2011, 16:10
Hi
So, I bought a MÁSmovil SIM on Friday in Madrid with the auto recharge option. It worked fine for the first day (SMS, calls to Australia, data) but now I have a couple of problems: Problem 1 - Auto Recharge The first auto recharge worked fine (I purposely called Australia a few times to use up the credit because I want to take the phone roaming and you need 2 auto recharges to enable roaming) but since then a subsequent recharge has failed. I've checked that the card is working fine and it definitely is not suspended / cancelled. I've called MÁSmovil and they put through a manual charge but that didn't work either. Problem 2 - SMS to Australia The second problem is sending SMS to Australia. Only 1 of my friends has received any texts. He is on the Telstra network in Australia. All of my other friends on Optus, Virgin, 3 have not received any of my texts. The strange thing is that my friend on 3 actually received 2 texts from me on Friday and then nothing since then. I've emailed MÁSmovil about this but haven't heard back (yet). I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced these problems and / or if anyone out there has any suggestions? Thanks! |

Since we bought our cards about the same time I thought I'd comment. Unfortunately I dont see the same problems but I'm only using the card for data. I did have to sign up for automatic recharge to get the €14.90/Gb rate but havent got to the stage of needing a recharge yet. My first payment was made manually but online. I'll be wary when my credit gets close to the recharge limit though, having read your post.
Cheers ... Robbie (in sunny Gijon) |

Thanks Robbie. I spoke to masmovil again this morning and it seems that they do not have agreements with the biggest mobile carriers in Australia so that is why the SMS msgs aren't getting through?!?
In terms of the problems with the auto top-up, I ended up going into a store to make the payment manually. I think that it was a masmovil problem that was temporary. I will have to see whether it works next time |

Hi, my name is Julio. Mi experience with Masmovil is fine, data, voice and texts works great. They have the best rates in Spain.

Well, I've come to the end of my 5 weeks using MasMovil whilst I was in spain.
It was fine for data, calls & SMS within Spain. Calls to Australia worked fine and were pretty cheap. Unfortunately, I really wanted to use it for sending SMS to my friends and family in Australia and that didn't work at all. I asked MasMovil about this twice and my answers were unsatisfactory and the problem was not resolved. I did also ROAM within the EU using the SIM and it worked ok. Calls weren't too expensive, roaming data was. I don't think I would use MasMovil again on my next trips to europe due to the SMS problem and their problems with auto recharging. |

Mine didn't work in roaming outside of Spain. But right now it is blocked anyway, because of the €1/month fixed fee which drained down my blance.
