I wonder if times will come that European mobile operators will be moving to such "tax heavens" outside of the EU to circumnavigate the price-dictating regulations and be able to provide us competitive prices

not yet, but their internet price in EU is already about one half of the max. allowed cap - so they might not feel the need to change it...

Default Orange has not reduced PAYG rates - 01-07-2012, 05:00

it's now July 1, and Orange, for one, has not reduced their PAYG rates to meet the regulations. (even post-paid monthly customers have to buy bundles to get rates that meet the EU limits.)
That's a pain, I have two of their sim cards, the Camel plan is good when I'm there to call back to the US or elsewhere.

there will be much competion from now on, so if alditalk won't introduce new or reduced data roaming packages they won't be the cheapets anymore!
for example europasim now offers 100mb per day for just 2euro...

You mean Vondafone Italy

Europasim isn't an (virtual) operator. I'm not sure if it is even a registered company. It is just some German guy trying to make a large profit from selling probably illegally registered (faked codice fiscale) Vodafone Italy sim cards by hiding their name whilst selling.

Now after looking into this a little, I can't seem to find the €2 for 100MB offer on Vodafone Italy's website. Maybe tux can give some clarification on this?
