As far as I know there is still no free roaming included on spanish prepaid offers.

Does anyone know a better solution please?
You might try Simyo.es which gives 10GB @ €30 for max. 30 days. One can buy a new data pack (same or different size) as soon as the previous one is completelly used before 30 days are over.

As far as I know simyo allows streaming and connection sharing. The coverage is Orange, the same as Spotfav. Simyo SIMs are a bit more difficult to find. They are often available in the big Carrefour markets or some smaller phone shops. Here is a list of some shops (there are more) where normally you should be able to find a simyo prepaid SIM:

Wow those are great deals. Mundo SIM gets your full 4G/LTE?

Hopefully the other carriers improve their offerings.

Yes, Mundo is full 4G/LTE, like Simyo Tuenti and Vodafone yu.

There are many other good prepaid offers in Spain, like 5GB / 10€ or 10GB / 20€. Read after "Mejor tarifa de tarjeta prepago" on the following page:

https://www.xatakamovil.com/mercado/...verano-de-2017

For those that only need data this summer, there are some summer specials ( https://www.xatakamovil.com/tag/verano-2017 ):
- Simyo one time 10 GB/30 days gift.
- Tuenti triple GB (3GB/6€, 12GB/14€).
- Orange Mundo double GB.
- Vodafone yu double GB.

Lot of data, just in time for no roaming charges too. I wasn't sure if I'd visit Biarritz from San Sebastian but I might do it now.

Anyone use Tuenti on an iPad, including tethering? Their app. looks like it's more for iPad.

Carrefour Movil, which became Spain’s first MVNO when it launched on 27 October 2006, has announced that it is planning to terminate its service on 31 December 2017. The supermarket-backed virtual operator is inviting affected customers to port their numbers to an alternative provider with immediate effect, and notes that a deal is in place with host network Orange Espana, which will allow users to move to Orange, or one of its sub-brands Jazztel and Simyo and receive a seamless service.

4GB 10.50 €
10GB 12,5 €
20GB 17 €
25GB 28 €

So I've used my 12 GB summer bundle for 10 days, used about 4 GB. Hotels have had good wifi so I haven't used it as much as I could. But current hotel room only gets 3G so using Wifi.

I drove across the border to Biarritz. Only get 3G on Bouygues, full signal along the waterfront. But only under 10 Mbps down.

Plus no tethering while roaming on Bouygues. Tried playing with settings and it says to contact Movistar.

Really a disappointing first experience with RLAH. I'd been tethering two iPhones to my iPad with the Tuenti SIM so roaming at 3G without tethering in NOT the same experience as at home.

Maybe because it's an MVNO? Maybe the actual Movistar SIM would roam at LTE with tethering?

Or maybe better luck with Orange and Vodafone since those carriers are also in France?

Oh well, I think I probably won't top up for a trip to Germany and Austria next month.

Flying out of Spain back to the US, connecting in Amsterdam.

Tuenti roams on KPN 3G. Good signal strength but speed is less than 3 Mbps.

Looks like tethering will work, unlike in France. But at low speeds, I'm using Wifi, which isn't that much faster.

Tuenti uses a different IMSI in roaming, not the Movistar one. So it is possible that they limit roaming to 3G and have different roaming partners.

According to the EU Regulation no operator should be allowed to block tethering, does not matter whether in roaming or not.

Orange Mundo SIM was blocking tethering in roaming last year. I don't know, what Simyo does. Both of them do 4G roaming in many countries.
