I'll say it again - it looks like Globalsim has become an agent for the Isle of Man SIM, as sold by a few others.

Either that or it's a remarkable coincidence that the country lists are so similar

All:

the NEW page link above is VERY confusing. Right now, 2200 EST Jan 20, the main text tells me for instance 19 e-cents per SMS. The page CLEARLY says starting Feb 1. BUT.... blinking on the left in the middle it says ORDER NOW and SMS 15 e-cents.
Can this be serious?

Here SMS is 19 e-cents v 9 with GT-SIM
Calls to German land lines 29 e-cents v 26 GT-SIM [blinking box say 25 e-cents!?]
Other calls to foreign destinations are stated @ 39 e-cents v 26-38 e-cents with GT-SIM

There are indeed similarities but there are differences, too.

At this stage I fully agree with the advice on teltarif about mobile phones --

1. if you DO bite on an offer, may sure you don't sink in too much and
2. keep to short term arrangements

Conditions are changing so fast it seems.... for the German, some other European (FR, CH recenbtly) and the international provider markets.

Consider those foolish folks who shelled out 60 Euros for Aldi starter kits on Ebay.de because they could not wait 3 weeks until the product came back on the market at 19.95! Of course they did not KNOW it would come back.

I (4 or us and all adults) won't be travelling until summer. I have 2 T-MO D1 cards, one with 0 balance and I may either sell that, just let it expire or renew it. It is a Viktor Vox thing and I am not sure if they will come after me to return the SIM card. I know that applies for POST PAID.

The best deal on the German market --- yes, we are OT here -- seems to be the Aldi product with 5 e-cents internal. BUT there are rumored to be other offers in the works. T-MO is matching the 5 e-cent rate, but there is an END DATE on that program -- actually, there was an earlier end date and it was revised to later. I would have to buy new cards as VV won't let me switch to Xtra Click&Go without paying an exhorbitant fee.

The Isle of Man sim is basically two products - postpaid (gt-sim) and prepaid (as sold by 0044). I don't know if the (new) globalsim product is the same, although the lack of Mexico roaming is a strong clue.

GT-sim and 0044 are provided and have some support by Callkey, in Castletown on the Isle of Man (in fact the 0044 product isn't even rebranded, it is the base "Callkeyone" card). Neither seem to bill for sms yet.

Do you know any "native" Callkey webpage on which those IoM SIMs are described? I couldn't find anything via Google...

As to GlobalSIM, in the end of December, one guy on pl.misc.telefonia.gsm told that he had found some info suggesting that GlobalSim would start soon a new offer with 0.15 EUR/SMS. However, he thought that it would be just a decrease of the current 0.49 EUR rate from UM, not the change of the SIM/service provider from UM to Callkey(?)

Callkey - www.callkey.com - don't seem to bother much with their own marketing, selling though dealers and resellers (they don't even have a price list for their callback product online!).

No mention of CallKeyOne there, but that's the name on the package of the 0044 product (and it says "welcome to Callkey" on the callback).

I know callkey are also involved with GT-sim because when it first came out I asked Manx Telecom who had that number range (and again one of the phone numbers on the GT-sim packaging is for Callkey's Castletown office).

So I expect there may well be more products derived from them soon.

Yes, that's what I found and was rather astonished by poor info . So, it seems they are simply "wholesalers", aren't they?

I've just called Globalsim office in Germany and asekd them some questions about the "Globalsim Business postpaid".

The simcards will arrive in the next 2 weeks to be deliverred. The monthly charge in my opinion is only to pay the free incoming calls throughout europe. Further the charge from Germany to Germany is 4 eurocent lower than with prepaid. This plan will be available for different countries in the future (asked for Austria since I live there).

It is a IOM-Mobile number, I asked for it. He told me the number range is +44 768....

Any update to your post of FEB 1... 25 days later!?

I am going to wait a while to figure out what, if any, new servie I should try to acquire for our upcoming summer trip. Just too much turbulence at this time.
