![]() I've just received my piranha sim after a lot of reading about it.
I checked call charges to my piranha sim from my usual 3 uk sim and it seems 3 are now charging for calls to the piranha 07418 number, it doesn't come out of inclusive minutes. Not sure about other operators, maybe they will follow suit. It is still useful to have a US number for incoming calls which is very cheap to call but inclusive calls from friends/family in UK from their mobiles would have been ideal. Overall the features tested so far work very well. Will report back after my trip to US later this month. |

![]() Just to let you know, I have an Orange contract in UK (my Daughter O2) and the Piranha 07481 number was within both billing bundles as of last month. I will check again and update.

![]() Thanks,
It would be good if other people could report back what other networks are doing. On 3 I got a recorded message before the call was connected saying I would get charged for it. I'll ask a family member to call me from an O2 mobile and see. PS do other people's piranha UK numbers begin with 07418 or 07481? Mine is 07418. I wonder if that's the difference?... |

![]() I wonder what the logic is? Pahanha numbers resolve as Telecom North America Mobile Inc. Not some dodgy Crown Dependency like Manx Telecom or Jersey Telecom.

![]() yep, 07418 (I suspect 07481 was a typo!) Truphone also uses UK numbers, but some networks penalize these operators, I ran into that. it's probably illegal price discrimination.

![]() It's probably been mentioned already. However, I have VoipCheap, and they charge a higher rate 0.12 euro to the Piranha uk number. Other Uk proper numbers are 0.08 euro.

![]() Even though Ofcom regulates mobile termination rates, smaller UK mobile carriers are still quite pricey to terminate to even at the wholesale level.
A way around the higher termination rates is to port in a number from one of the big three (or four if you count H3G) carriers. This however only works for international or UK landline originated calls. This being said, Piranha is capable of porting in UK mobile numbers I can't however say for sure if they choose to do it or not. Mobile phones: iPhone 5, Blackberry 9900, Nexus S, Samsung S3322 duos Mobile data cards: Huawei E587u-5, Huawei E583c, Huawei E160 Postpaid SIMs: CA: Fido, Wind; INTL: Telna Prepaid SIMs: DE: Fonic, Lidl; AT: yesss!, bob; UK: O2; US: AT&T; RO: Orange, Vodafone; FR: b&you, Lycamobile; NL: Lycamobile; BE: Lycamobile, Jim Mobile; CL: Entel; MX: Telcel; INTL: eKit Blue, eKit Yellow Dead SIMs: too many to list |

![]() Piranha has added GCI Corp on their list of US carriers. They seem to be Alaska only.
