My Telna SIM still registers on T-Mobile (US), so that at least is hopeful.

Just returned from a trip to Canada (I'm in the US) with my telna and Piranha SIMs running side by side in a dual-sim phone.
Some quick observations.

Both SIMs functioned for voice calls. I did not use any data services. Piranha roamed on Rogers, and telna on Telus. Voice quality on Piranha was definitely poorer, to the point where I had to use telna to access an automated credit card voice response system because Piranha did not transmit the touch tones I used to enter my credit card number reliably.

Both had issues with SMS to recipients on Verizon USA. Texts took hours or days to be transmitted, and often were repeated many times - to the point where the recipient decided to simply turn off the phone for the night; such was the annoyance. Never received a single text in response from either SIM.

The iroam web site now contains call records for all the test calls I was making on the telna SIM since January. If I use the SIM toolkit function to check balance, I see that there is a NEGATIVE balance corresponding to the last payment I made when telna was still operating. This number got smaller as I used the account, so it seems that my last telna payment is now on the account as a credit balance.

The Piranha web site also has my call records but there are so many extraneous things going on there (callback SMS - no charge) that it is really difficult to figure out what is going on with their billing. On the plus side, after a week of use I was probably charged a total of 1 - 1.50 GBP, so why complain.

Travelling again soon to Europe. Since telna works, and I appear to have a credit balance, it's going along.

Just received two telna-related emails.
One was a welcome note from G3 Telecom congratulating me on selecting them as my long-distance carrier (!) and requesting that I post a favorable review.
The second is an "order confirmation" from iroam in which they tried to bill me 17.99 for "airtime credit" - I had entered a VAN as my credit card and it was rejected by their billing system.

Last I checked (see above) I had a CREDIT BALANCE on this account. Both in email and on the phone, telna had assured me that the account would remain postpay as before. Well duh ... what's this charge for "airtime credit"?? iroam web site is as non-functional as before.

I'm about to call and cancel.

I sent them an e-mail about a month ago asking about TelnaMobile. The response I got back said they needed my phone number(s) to provide information. When I replied with the numbers, I got no response. I e-mailed them again this morning, asking the same question and providing my phone number(s). As of right now, I've only received the standard canned reply. If they go prepaid, I'll also cancel. My whole reason for going with TelnaMobile was that it was PAYG. I've lost too much on prepaid international cards.

So far all I've gotten from G3 is evasion. They refuse to answer any questions about TelnaMobile.

Earlier I had posted that I registered a "burner" virtual credit card with G3/iRoam as a test for their payment system.

I used the Telna SIM on a Canadian and a European trip this year.

A couple of weeks ago or so, I got a message from G3 billing department that the credit card payment for my purchase of "airtime credit" had been declined.

The "declined" part is not surprising to me as several credit card payment processors cannot, or will not, process VAN's.

I responded to the email saying that I was told my account would still be postpaid; I had not received a bill for usage, and that the "airtime credit" name suggests that I am being treated as a prepaid customer. If so ... cancel my account.

They responded with a full itemized bill of my usage since January. It looked pretty accurate and consistent with my usage, so I paid it.

Well, I checked out the iRoam site and I was all set up with my G3 password, even though I don't recall ever visiting iroam.com before. I tested receiving and placing a call which seemed to work. However, I can't receive texts. However, it seems like Telna's WiFi calling and landline callback still work.
