![]() Hello,
I am looking to buy a prepaid SIM-card that can have a data pack added, to last for a few days while visiting Berlin. Are there any providers that won't allow a foreigner to register the SIM-card and top-up (i.e., you need a German credit card or bank account)? I will have a German address I can put on the registration form. I am thinking I should be good with 1 GB of data. Which option would I have for this? Thanks for any advice. |

From reading PrepaidGSM's page on german operators, it seems that you would need a German ID card in order to register the SIM card. Does that still apply? Update: From reading Aldi's FAQ, I guess not... Quote:

![]() I would not recommend Aldi Talk as they use the eplus network, which is by far the worst in Germany. Given that you can provide a German address, I would rather buy a Lidl SIM card which is based on the much faster O2 network.
For details about Lidl see LIDL mobile - Prepaid Wireless Internet Access postpaid: O2 on Business XL; prepaid: DE: Aldi Talk, Lidl; UK: 3; BG: MTel, vivacom; RU: MTS; RS: MTS; UAE: du Tourist SIM; INT'L: toggle mobile VoIP: sipgate.de (German DID); sipgate.co.uk (British DID); ukddi.com (British DID); sipcall.ch (Swiss DID); megafon.bg (Bulgarian DID); InterVoip.com |
