Thanks to WindWorld we knew that Wind will change their GPRS prices abroad the next month (well, Wind changed their roaming prices at all... for voice and sms too)
We will have a (little bit) cheaper price in Zone 1 and 2, while in the rest of the World it will be more expensive. <table border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr class="orari"><td style="width: 20%;" align="center"> </td> <td style="width: 20%;" align="center">Zona 1</td> <td style="width: 20%;" align="center">Zona 2</td> <td style="width: 20%;" align="center">Zona 3</td> <td style="width: 20%;" align="center">Zona 4</td></tr></tbody></table><table border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td align="center">Dati (GPRS/UMTS)</td> <td align="center">Wap: 0.02/KB Web: 0.0125/KB</td> <td align="center">Wap: 0.02/KB Web: 0.0125/KB</td> <td align="center">Wap: 0.04/KB Web: 0.0250/KB</td> <td align="center">Wap: 0.04/KB Web: 0.0250/KB</td></tr></tbody></table> Zona 1 Austria, Belgio, Cipro, Danimarca, Estonia, Francia, Finlandia, Germania, Grecia, Irlanda, Lettonia, Liechtenstein, Lituania, Lussemburgo, Malta, Norvegia, Olanda, Portogallo, Polonia, Regno Unito (incluse Guernsey, Jersey, Man, o almeno si spera ), Rep. 1.25c/kB against 0.5p or 0.3p GB or 0.3c CH doesn't look too good

1.25c/kb is a very good price when you use data on the mega no limit or 15000 options... It's even better prices than before in zones 1 and 2. Used to be 1.5c/kb and now it's 1.25c/kb.
So what will the exact data transfer allowances be in zone 1 on mega no limit? |

I'm sorry, what do you mean? In the table that Andrea is quoting above, the new data roaming rate will be 1.25c/kb in zone 1, DOWN from 1.5/kb pre-December 2006..
So I guess it will be around 300 MB download on mega no limit starting February 2007? Or am I mistaken? |

I think I need a recap.
If no Mega package, it's 1.25c/kB? With Mega, the so-called included value gets used at 90c/kB (so €3000 would get 333MB) ? That sounds slightly better than the old 1GB in Italy, 200MB roaming, or have I remembered the tariffs wrong and should look up which has the notional €3000 value? |

Let's solve a simple inequality (the unit is eurocent) where: x - kilobytes over 3.33 MB, LHS - cost with Mega RHS - cost without Mega 2000 + 90x > 4166 + 1.25x 88.75x>2166 x>24.41 So, if you exceed the Mega packet by 24 KILOBYTES ONLY, you'll pay more. Moreover, let's consider low usage: 1.25x<2000 x<1600 Below 1600 kilobytes you'll also pay less with the regular rate. The "data usage interval" for which Mega is cheaper than the regular rate is (in kilobytes) [1600,3357]. The maximal saving to be achieved is about 21.66€, when the packed is all used. In this case, however, you face the risk that each kilobyte extra will shoot the costs to the horrible level. Of course, these calculations are a little rough (I assumed 1 MB =1000 kB, not 1024 kB), but I hope you'll agree with the general conclusions... |
