Is that considered cheap?

The differences of cellular services between countries amazes me, considering that the product is similar

At home I pay the equivalent of 12 EUR/month for 70 GB domestic + 2 GB abroad (in some of the most travelled countries) + unlimited domestic voice and text + 300 minutes international calling. Makes it cheaper than purchasing a local SIM in many countries.

it depends to what you compare it:
-> it's quite cheap for German prepaid prices.
Germany is a rather pricey EU country for mobile data.
50 GB at €80 means that 1 GB goes at €1.60 which is considered cheap here.

On the other hand, this offer is on the weakest network in Germany: o2/Telefónica.
There are currently very split opinions about this network provider.
It has a 4G availability of only 66% and mostly single digit Mbps download rates.
This means congestion in many inner cities and often no 4G coverage on the countryside.
But if you want to use it stationary in a well covered area, it may still be a good option.

Furthermore, more reliable 4G roaming in the EU/EEA is added without surcharges.
No FUP or any limit is applied so far by the provider which is a big plus for using it outside Germany.

Within the country, you get much better deals for postpaid contracts with 24 months of commitment.
Both Telekom and Vodafone sell real uncapped unlimited internet plans now for the same price in Germany (€80) on much better and faster networks.
And when you are still happy with o2/Telefonica. They sell unlimited data at €60 per month on similar contracts with a 2 years term.

well, €1.60 per GB isn't really the lowest prepaid rate for Germany, if you are a bit more creative (as I know you are from your previous threads.....).

If you want to stick to o2/Telefónica network you can get Ortel's router offer, take out the SIM card and resell the router as hardware on eBay.
It's a Wistron WNC WLD71-T1 LTE Router. You'll have to pay €70 for the router including 40GB for the first month. The router you can resell and the SIM contains 40GB per month for €30. This is the only LTE prepaid offer in Germany below the €1 per GB mark at the moment.

You can even beat these prices, if you go shopping in other EU countries. Italy for instance has very good prepaid rates and a FUP is often not enforced. So Telekom and o2 networks in Germany are accessible for less than €0.50/GB with WindTre or €1/GB with TIM in larger packages. Similar to some Spanish providers like Simyo, Llamaya and Rep. Móvil that all sell domestic data at €1/GB or below in 20+GB packages without any EU FUP so far. All these Orange MVNOs are roaming on Telekom's and on o2's LTE network in Germany. You'll get quite high speeds esp. on Telekom LTE, but a bit longer latency because of roaming.

That sounds great. Here in Italy, the cheapest offer - open to everyone without requiring mobile number portability from a certain targeted carrier - is Iliad which offers unlimited calls and text plus 50 GB (4 GB in Europe) at 7,99 euros. They also offer unlimited calls toward more than 60 international destinations (mostly landlines). In alternative, if you want a more performing line, there is Ho. Mobile (a virtual carrier created by Vodafone) which offers at 9,99 euros per month, 50 GB of traffic and unlimited calls and text.

Cellular plan prices in Israel were very high until 2012, when Golan Telecom, then related to French Iliad debuted with (for the time) cheap "all included" plans. Prices ettled at the equivalent of EUR 8-12/month, but the legacy operators continue to sell very expensive roaming packages.
Considering that we have no "Roam Like at Home" plans, The mentioned plan is very attractive. I bought the SIM with the intention of using it in Canada in the summer and than cancelling it, but since then I used it also in Romania, and my sons in Spain, Austria and Hungary, and I changed my mind and probably keep it until I can get a better plan.
