I have the WebPocket by Huawei and it works great. Then you can buy an Italian sim-card once you are in Italy and activate one of the many data options. But first check the coverage because southern Italy and most of all some remote areas could be not very well covered, expecially with 3G. Probably TIM should be the best solution.
