I read this forum on regular basis and reading through your posts it is clear that you do not seem to be happy with piranha. I am using and have for a long time used the piranha mobile sim when travelling to the states and many other countries and find the service and rates are very good. Also I note that the majority of people on this forum are very pro piranha and its service. I am curious as to why you alone seem to be having such a big issue with the network, I have a trip due to the lakes in Wisconsin next month for research and will need my phone to work.

It's one thing for a sim to have lots of features/bells and whistles, and it's another for it to be usable for the basic things when you really need it. See my post above - Piranha was not usable for me when I traveled. Bottom line, The thing would not register on the network. And if it does, it goes to emergency mode within minutes. I certainly do not plan on depending on it on my future trips.

Default Call charges to 07418 piranha numbers - 26-04-2013, 13:12

I've just received my piranha sim after a lot of reading about it.

I checked call charges to my piranha sim from my usual 3 uk sim and it seems 3 are now charging for calls to the piranha 07418 number, it doesn't come out of inclusive minutes. Not sure about other operators, maybe they will follow suit. It is still useful to have a US number for incoming calls which is very cheap to call but inclusive calls from friends/family in UK from their mobiles would have been ideal.

Overall the features tested so far work very well. Will report back after my trip to US later this month.

I wonder what the logic is? Pahanha numbers resolve as Telecom North America Mobile Inc. Not some dodgy Crown Dependency like Manx Telecom or Jersey Telecom.

yep, 07418 (I suspect 07481 was a typo!) Truphone also uses UK numbers, but some networks penalize these operators, I ran into that. it's probably illegal price discrimination.
