![]() Another Betamax clone.
I've never understood their business model. If they'd stuck to one brand they'd be a major player by now. Instead they spend all their energy coming up with yet another brand that is cheaper for one thing but not another, fragmenting their market even more... |

![]() Well, many people open several accounts and leave some $ on all of them while swapping. Besides it gives you the imagination that there are many brands to choose from - even though all the money goes into the same pocket. And founding a new brand only takes a few minutes and a few new colors on the web template

![]() I think another reason for that diversity of brands is, that they're also experimenting with different tariff models and services.

![]() Right they have different brands for different countries all having different rates.
For the uk the have low rates to uk call but other countries are more expensive. Having 1 brand might work but what they are doing now is simple rebranding existing software and websites and just using different rate structures to get maximum profit. The advantage now is also that it's difficult to compare them to a competitor. If you have 1 brand that's a lot easier and using 1 brand they can't have different rate structures. Also when people are using them most of them are not switcihing back to yet another of their brands because it's cheaper. For wholesale they have 2 brands voicetrading and siptraffic. |

![]() I also think that they use some clever logic algorithms that control the different brands! For example, sometimes a "free" country from one brand is removed and it is immediately applied to another! I think this occurs when brand useage to that country increases, so that it is no longer feasible to provide it for "free". I am particularly talking about countries that are NOT rock bottom in termination rates. e.g. Argentina, Mexico, Middle East, Turkey, Malaysia, Eastern Europe, Russia etc. Some countries are "free" on almost all brands: e.g. Western Europe landlines, USA etc.
Overall, this is a very impressive and very shrewd company, that everyone loves to hate but few have really lost significant money on! I always think of them as the "Ryanair" of telecom! |

![]() Rynga is actually a Dellmont brand, as are several others like ActionVoip
Quite what the relationship is between the two groups is not clear, but it doesn't seem to be that they are gradually migratiing to Luxembourg, and they aren't simply interchangeable, as for example resellers on Betamax brands can't transfer funds to Dellmont accounts |

![]() The reason why they now prefer Luxembourg is surely the low VAT of 15%, which is the lowest in the Union. eBay bills (for auction fees) also come from a Luxembourg subsidiary with just 15% VAT added.

![]() Originally posted by inquisitor (regarding DialNow.com):
Download Betamax' Java midlet, through which you can trigger call backs and send SMS. Just open http://gsm.voipbuster.com from your handset. It works for all Betamax brands, allthough hosted on voipbuster's server. The "voipclient" is not working with rynga accounts ! |
