Will be in Bermuda next week (vacation) and will use my Digicel Bermuda and Maxroam sim cards. At least the Maxroam sim card WORKS and they do respond promptly to any questions I've had (unlike my Yackie, UM, UM+, Riing, and BuyTel sim cards or my Slingshot CDMA USB key; some of these might be resurrected in the future but I'm not holding my breath on it) but the dialout procedure is cumbersome on my Razr, and they still haven't assigned an incoming DID. Think I'll try to use up a chunk of the MaxRoam starter balance in Bermuda, and see if they fix the other issues in the future (if they do I'll add money to the card).
Since my travel is now mostly US (my AT&T or T-Mobile MVNO sim cards) or Caribbean and Bermuda(Digicel), an international callback sim card isn't as critical for me. The Digicel card works in multiple countries where they have networks and I have my Iridium phone if networks go down or I'm not near a tower. Plus I can always use a low tech calling card at a payphone...

Phones/Wireless Devices: Doogee S90, Isatphone Pro, Amazon Kindle 3G, SkyRoam MiFi device, Karma MiFi device, AT&T Liberate MiFi device
Sim Cards: T-Mobile (Mint), AT&T (Mifi device or Kindle), Koko
Satphone: InMarSat
Broadband US Wireless Data: AT&T postpaid, Sprint (Karma Mobility prepaid)
Broadband International Data: SkyRoam
VOIP: Skype

What is a payphone? Do they still exist?

Make use of T-M's UMA/wifi free calling from any place in the world with access to wifi. I use an LG G6, wife an S7)
A/o Oct 20, 2013 no need for intl prepaid as T-Mobile U.S. includes voice roaming at 20¢/min (in and out)., unlimited text (in and out), and unlimited data in 140+ countries.

My Plan -[6 lines] U.S. T-Mobile unlimited minutes (incoming and outgoing), unlimited text, fast data on each line. that $145/mo. total! . (In U.S. no surcharge for calling a cell.) If a line exceeds 2G of data in a month, pay $10 more for that line. [That only happens a couple times/year.

So there is a charge of 1 minute as soon as callback is answered, after that billing increment is 10 seconds for both outgoing and incoming calls. DID are not free anymore but can be added for 1 month only as well. Customer support is good, reply is provided by email in 24 hours. Rates are not great but coverage is good. Billing increment of 10 sec after 1st minute is a plus as well.
