Low smobile rates only apply to smobile phones (good luck unless you ADD another SIM & service for your friends and family) -- remember market is saturated. Might be some advantages to domestic (German) and foreign Voda usage/users. Other than that SMS prices as well as call prices are still high in comparison to other MVNOs.

The advantage of this card is the fact that it runs on the vodafone network and not on e-plus. This gives you a better network coverage outside the urban areas and the possibility to set diversions and switch off the voice mail (or set it to a useful time - the e-plus cards always pick up after a very few rings which makes it even hard to dig the phone out of the pocket before voicemail hits in)...

Advantage from the e-plus cards is that many people in germany use the "Base" tariff already which gives them free unlimited calls to e-plus and landlines...

So its always your choice what suits you best.
