Travelling to India (Goa)

Hi folks,

It looks pretty certain that my brother will be travelling to Goa in India next month for 3 weeks. He will be taking a computer with him and will generally have internet access so should (in theory) be able to make most of his calls via VOIP but it would be good to have a pre-paid SIM for emergency and/or back-up use.

I have quickly looked through the forum but there doesn't appear to be any really recent posts on India.

Drawing on the huge collective wisdom of the forum, could anyone offer any advice in terms of the best pre-paid option and any other tips/pointers? From what I can gather the ID requirements seem to be quite strong and the tariffs/billing looks less than straightforward!
