Thanks to split of the USSR and Czechoslovakia and reunification of Germany, between 3th Oct 1990 and 1st Jan 1993 my country lost its all 3 neighbours and gained 7 new ones ![]() It had one funny consequence. Until 1989, communist authorities issued special passports "valid in socialist countries only". After 1989 transformations those passports were still valid. However, because 3 neighbour countries (USSR, Czechoslovakia and GDR) ceased to exist, after 1st Jan 1993 it was possible to cross the Polish border with those passports only by air (e.g. flying to Hungary) ![]() |
