Default Call Forwarding - 26-02-2010, 23:44

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Can i forward calls from my sim to a number i want to call if its too expensive to call directly?

ie: I am in Africa & I want to call Italy, instead of calling Italy directly I forward my isle of man simcard to the italian number i want.

Will the isle of man simcard charge me just for the forward or will they also charge me for being in africa?

I would use a local simcard to call my isle of man number which should ring in italy then just pay for calling my isle of man number and the forward to italy.

Please advise

Perhaps. What SIM card do you have. I know ekit has call forwarding. And they charge.
Quote:
Call forwarding
Calls to your phone number may be forwarded to any other number. You will be charged the standard rate for zone 1 landline or mobile, depending on whether the call is forwarded to a landline or mobile phone, and if a surcharge applies.
This is from ekit's Global Premium Service. Passport and Passport Plus have the same language. You can set it up from your phone or from you account on the web.

OneSimCard does not support Forwarding functionality.

And WorldSIM:
Quote:
How do I use the cheap call forwarding facility to call anywhere in the world without incurring any WorldSIM charges?
To use WorldSIM’s cheap call forwarding facility to call abroad, you need to forward your WorldSIM number to the number abroad that you wish to call. Then simply call your WorldSIM number and you will be put through to the number abroad that you wish to call. Costs for calling your own WorldSIM number will be dependant on how you are dialing. Your WorldSIM number is a UK mobile number. From most fixed lines it ought to be charged as a call to a mobile phone or less. Mobile networks may levy different charges. Please check with your service provider about their charges. The approximates costs of calling a WorldSIM number using some popular providers are as follows; BT landline: 12.5p peak, 4p weekend; UK mobile cross network minutes; Free (on some mobile providers – please check with your provider)
I am not sure that is clear what WorldSIM is saying. It was free to forward to the US [I don't recall if Canada was free]and India [and maybe Pakistan and Benglidesh]. Other places had higher charges but less than a call with WorldSIM if I recall. I will try to find the page with the charges on their website. This perhaps would make up for the cost of the card and 1UKpound a month charge for some people--for some more than make up for it.

Three different SIMs/companies. 3 different answers.

Default Follow up to previous post. WorldSIM call forwarding rates. - 27-02-2010, 00:51

As I indicated before, these call forwarding rates might be advantages for some.

Hi , thank you very useful I don't know what company its from but the number is 4477000xxx

Thank you this is very useful info, worldsim seem really cheap on call forwarding. Thank you

Djibouti 0.4800
Djibouti Mobile 0.4800

Very cheap, now i need to find a way to call my mobile cheaply with a call back card or something.

So forwarding should not be charged depending on where you are but just the cost of calling your number + wherever you forward to?

I don't quite understand what you mean or want. If you are in one country and want to call another, and if you forward one phone, you will still need another phone to call the first phone, and that call will also cost something. If you use callback to the second (roaming) then the first (diverted) phone, it may or may not all be worthwhile, but whatever you do except a simple call there will be two to four tariffs involved.

I make alot of calls to Djbouti whilst roaming, if I use my roaming sim to call Djbouti directly I can pay anything up to $2 per minute. However if i do the following its cheaper because its cheaper to call england than it it to call Djbouti even if you add call forwarding costs:

1) Roaming in Japan need to call Djbouti this is what i want to do
2) Forward my isle of man sim to djbouti, unconditionally & switch it off
3) Use a Japanese phone to call my isle of man number & it rings in Djbouti

Result is I pay 10c to call my isle of man sim + 27c my sim charges to forward my call to Djbouti total cost of call = 37c/min

If I dial directly from my sim to Djbouti whilst in Japan I pay $2 + per minute

Long winded but what else can a poor man do?
