Default Voicestick rates - watch out! - 18-05-2007, 11:36

Just a warning. Voicestick rates to some countries went up. Drastically in some cases. For example my IOM sim (447624) and Virgin Uk/Tmobile now cost $0.30 to call. They used to be $0.15.

I just looked at my account and found out VS charged me $6.06 for a 20 minute call (call never connected) to my IOM number. It was a test call that never connected. So, the problem of charging for calls that never connected, and did not even roll to voicemail (voicemail is turned off) still exists.

BTW, united Mobile used to be $0.30. It has now doubled to $0.61

Perhaps this is related to the problems the Dollar is having vice the Euro.

...but some rates went down....rates to German mobiles went from 16¢/minute to a little more than 12¢/minute

Also if you look at the UK rate page, there must be 20 lines say to O2...most of them say 16¢ but a bunch of them say 29¢.

Also they still have not corrected the problem of terminating a call properly...I did a test call last week to my German mobile and after the call rolled over to voicemail there (without the phrase please wait while we complete your call) I hung up and was still charged for 6 minutes (which probably means there are 6 minutes of silence on my German voicemail and when I get to Germany in a couple of weeks, I'll have to clear it.

Something fishy is going on all over.

One other strange thing is that they seem to have removed the full international list, which was more helpfull in finding a rate that putting the number, as is now the case...

Interesting a wide disparity of rates on some of the UK sims via provider....

My UK O2 sim they want close to 30¢/minute

My Virgin is tagged as a T Mobile UK and is around 13¢ a minute

My Orange is also around 13¢ a minute

So the question is what has O2 done to inspire their wrath?

The Isle of Man cards are also over 30¢ per minute

United Mobile is over 60¢/minute

My virgin number 07804 (Tmobile UK of course) is $0.29. One of my sister's tmobie UK number (07956) is also $0.13. Another sister's virgin number (07947) is coming up as $0.29. Can't really explain why!

Don't you think that Virgin (MVNO on T-Mo UK) and "real" T-Mo may have different termination rates?

That's absolutely possible. But, MATHA531's is also Virgin and has a different rate.
