![]() Hi,
here a small update for Iceland: Around the capital there are three networks alive: - Siminn (2G, 3G) - Vodafone (2G, 3G) - Nova (3G) The best choice to get a sim card is at one of the shopping centers (eg. Kringlan, Smaralind). In the downtown of Reykjavik there is not one (!) store of the phone companys! Because the informations you may get (w/o icelandic) is not very much, it may help to go there... There you get prepaid simcard for four provider - Siminn (274-01) - Vodafone (274-02) - Nova (274-11) - Tal (274-12) Tal is working on the Siminn-Network. All Sim offer data services. At Vodafone and Nova you could get data packages (1GB around 1000 kr.). The validity is 180 days for Siminn and Vodafone, and 30 days for Nova. With Siminn, Vodafone and Tal you may get an online access to your account, but not with Nova (because "for security reasons" you need to have an Icelandic ID-# to get access). The online access at Siminn is only working in Iceland, because you will get a SMS with a password. Recharges are possible online via credit card at Vodafone and Tal. Roaming is possible at Vodafone, Nova and Tal (but not with Siminn - here you need - once again - an Iceland ID-#). The prices are (almost) the same on every network. |
