![]() The phone has hotspots @ home (wifi).
I read reports that it will connect to wifi with the phone in airplane mode allowing a person to make free international calls. Does this work for calls from Europe back to the US? What if I have a SIM card in it other than T-Mo? The phone is unlocked. |

![]() I think I've answered my own question. I took the phone down the street to Starbucks parking lot. I turned "airplane mode" on and hit "connect". It took several seconds (perhaps a minute) to connnect. I dialed the other phone I had with me....it rang.
This is amazing to me. I have a prepaid SIM in the Katalyst with no provision for wifi. This makes the Katalyst much more valuable to me when/if I travel "over there".....and I only paid $20 for it on CraigsList. |

![]() Yes, all T-Mobile USA SIMs work fine with it & at least for now, unlike some other UMA carriers, you CAN use the feature anywhere in the world & get home rates (as it acts as if you are home whenever you are connected to WiFi).

![]() I'm sorry for the lack of knowledge but I've never heard of this concept until I started to investigate "hotspots @ home" when I bought the phone a couple of weeks ago.
So, I have to have a T-Mo SIM in it for it to connect to wifi? How do folks carry extra SIM cards when traveling "light"? |

![]() oh, Yes. Nice feature. I used my tmobile prepaid sim in a Nokia 6086 to make calls back to the US when I was in Jamaica in April. Using the resort's free WiFi.
Sim cards: AT&T (Contract), 3 UK, Piranha Mobile |
