![]() Can anyone help me find the cheapest way of making long calls from NZ to UAE. I have some friends who need to call Dubai from NZ a lot, and the best I can suggest is voip at around US$0.2/min. However they do not have Broadband and VoIP is patchy on their dialup. They cannot seem to find any decent NZ phonecards to do this country. They have a landline and Vodafone NZ prepaid GSM.
Can any of the Kiwi's here suggest anything? Thanks so much in advance! |

![]() Also... can any of you Kiwis or anyone suggest a good deal for Broadband in NZ? (or a good site for finding it). Maybe it will be best they get this hooked up for VoIP etc.

![]() If they are long calls, try DialNow with this, and hope the offer gets extended, but it's almost the price you mentioned anyway. Or from a landline ...

![]() I've rarely program the twenty US cents barrier and have generally not been happy with the results when I do. Do your friends call multiple people in Dubai or just one household.
At least in the Western Ex-Pat population in Dubai, broadband is readily available and voip on the other end might be a solution. If the friends live in the free trade zone, Du has not been very rigorous about enforcing the block on VOIP. Most systems work with only minor tinkering. |

![]() They only call one number. I think VoIP was tried on the Dubai end but with little luck. I think they sometimes manage Skype to Skype but it is patchy! SkypeOut is a no-no! Betamax seems to be completely out of the question.
Though not part of the UAE, my experiences are with Bahrain. Betamax does not work there at all but on the other hand all Skype service including SkypeOut work well. I wonder if the 'tinkering' you mention will work for getting Betamax clients working in Bahrain!? Do you have any tips? |
